Old Town Model Railroad
Project Description
San Diego’s Old Town Model Railroad Depot originally opened in the 2014, offering patrons a train collection like no other that travels through a 2,000 square feet layout. In 2019, a local family of train enthusiasts found that the Depot was to be closed and, in a flurry of movement, purchased the train museum themselves so it could continue to share its nostalgia with other local, national and international model train enthusiasts.
Under this new ownership, Zbra Studios created a new website to showcase the magical museum of working trains and encourage in-person visits to the exhibition. The museum also began selling nostalgic and souvenir products through this new site.
What We Did
- Built shopping cart functionality on WooCommerce that syncs in real time with the client’s POS so that website inventory accurately reflects what available in store
- Shopping cart offers flexibility to choose in-store pickup or shipment
- Patrons can purchase museum membership online
- Created online donations page on the site to further support the museum
Awards
Zbra Studios received the Gold Website Award from NYX Marcom for the creation of the Old Town Model Railroad Depot website.
