F acebook may soon implement hashtags
With Facebook, the only constant is change. While the Greek philosopher, Heraclitus, who originally wrote the saying wasn’t exactly having to constantly adjust to timeline changes (like the most recent overhaul), it is certainly aprapo as the social media giant is once again considering more. Soon, Facebook may by finally (#probably) get hashtags.
The hashtags you see on sites like Twitter and Instagram aggregate content by acting as a “tag,” making searching for words or phrases easy. Hashtags have already made its way to Facebook – not as clickable links, but as cross-posted content from users posting via Instagram and Twitter apps.
Not one to miss out on a bandwagon (or a gouge at long-time rival Twitter), Mark Zuckerberg is allegedly overseeing testing of the hashtag on Facebook. But without any official commentary coming from Facebook, it’s unclear when or how this will all work. If Facebook does choose to implement hashtags, fans of the This is not Twitter. Hashtags don’t work here page will have to find something else to complain about.
