A nd the Oscar goes to… the envelopes!

In any large productions, there are countless unsung heroes. Take the Oscars, for example. It’s unlikely that many people would think: “Gee, that’s a nice envelope,” as the winner of Best Picture was announced. And before 2011, they wouldn’t have much cause to; the envelopes came from Staples of all places. Borrrrring!

But for the past three years the envelopes have received an annual design upgrade courtesy of Los Angeles stationary designer Marc Friedland. The envelopes are created using “high-gloss, iridescent metallic gold paper stock, with red-lacquered lining featuring the Oscar statuette hand-stamped in satin gold leaf.”
