Q uick, draw this in 3 dimensions for me
Last month, toy and robotics company WobbleWorks launched a Kickstarter fundraiser for the production of a new pen, the 3Doodler. It’s not just an average pen – this phenomenal technology functions by producing and melting plastic the moment it leaves the pen, allowing anyone to create 3D objects as you draw.
Unlike a lot of failed Kickstarter fundraisers, this one has gotten quite a backing, exceeding their modest $30,000 goal by more than two million dollars – and there’s still about a week to go.
We’re not sure if we can find a use for it in our day-to-days, but heck – the President even gives 3D printing a shout-out as an important emerging technology, and the military likes using it. There are some artistic applications for things like jewelry and sculptures. Kickstarter backers, will receive the product as early as September this year, and consumers can own one for as little as $75 a pop. After all, everyone needs a hand-drawn, 3D dinosaur sculpture.
Can you see a use for a 3D pen in your creative or professional life?
